June 2023 witnessed significant developments in the parking industry, specifically with vehicle-centric digital services, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and sustainable mobility solutions. Major collaborations and initiatives aimed to enhance the driving experience, simplify parking and charging, and promote green transportation. Overall it's been a busy month, and if you're already reading this we're willing to bet that you have been just as busy, but don't worry, we have all the news wrapped up for you here! 

 EV Charging News

In potentially the biggest news last month, Germany is set to allocate up to €900 million ($983 million) in subsidies to enhance the network of electric vehicle charging stations for both households and businesses. The original press release can be read here

Go To-U has had a busy month, with 5,000 new charging points at Elli stations by Volkswagen Group, a very successful lifestyle hub in Malaysia, and new partnerships with PRE in the Czech Republic and with the ND Group LTD charging station featuring a robust 160 kW capacity, powered by the GO TO-U OS.

PowerGo has also hit new success records in June, opening their first location in Denmark, partnering with NL supermarket giant Jumbo and The Radisson Hotel Group to provide fast EV charging for shoppers and travelers alike. 

Flowbird UK partners with Hampton by Hilton to cure guests range anxiety with their new Easee EV chargers, showing the hotel chain's commitment to sustainability and delivering an unmatched guest experience.

IP Parking was selected to replace the entire parking management system in the municipality of Haarlem, the Netherlands. A total of 6 parking garages will be re-vamped, obsolete equipment will be removed and replaced with the latest IP Parking solutions. 

Amsterdam follows suit by renewing its flooring in Sluidhuis parking facility with Bolidts state of the art flooring solutions. almost 8400m2 of slip-resistant flooring designed specifically for car parks will be installed. Bolidts collaboration with Amsterdam does not stop there, with a further project in the city of Amsterdam, this time for bicycle parking. The newly inaugurated bicycle parking garage, located in the heart of Amsterdam, is capable of accommodating thousands of bicycles.

The Hague welcomes its first Q-park in Binckhorst, whilst EasyPark launches in the city of Perth Australia. 

Airport Parking News

Free2move expands its rental offering with a new mobility corner, in partnership with LaVacolla Car Parks at Adolfo Suárez Madrid airport in Barajas. 

Designa offers more airport convenience with its hardware and software solutions at New Goa Manohar Airport, whilst HUB Parking helps parking remain smooth and seamless at Sharm El Sheikh Airport

OMNIQ Corp. deployed an AI solution to three more airports, totaling 60 deployments in the US. 

The airport parking platform Parkvia has, in the beginning of June, been acquired by CAVU, global organisation founded by Manchester Airports Group. This strategic acquisition will see CAVU grow what is already the largest inventory of airport parking worldwide, and further expand its presence in Europe while unlocking new opportunities in ports, rail stations, city centers and other locations. 

People News 

PowerGo has appointed a new CTO, Ron Schaasberg, who promises to bring a fresh new contribution to the energy transition of The Netherlands. 

APOCA appointed a new managing director, Katron Teichert, bringing with her brings 25 years of executive experience in the automotive, mobility and service industries.

Nuvei has also made some personnel changes in appointing a new CRO, Laura Miller, who will also take over as Global Head of eCommerce.

Contracts Won 

EYSA has been awarded the contract by Gijon City Council for the low emission zone parking and access control system implementation, catering to residents, visitors, public parking and tourist accommodation managers, freight transport operators, mobility agents, and municipal administrators.

Hectronic Vertriebs-und Service GmbH has been awarded the tender for parking meters in Berlin, Germany. 

Flowbird Deutschland GmbH also secures a tender in Germany, for time registers in Cologne. Flowbird España, S.L. follows suit by winning a contract for parking meters in Vitoria Spain. 

HUB ITALIA SRL secures contract for car park control equipment in Messina, Italy. 

And finally, Designa France wins contract for access control, safety, and signaling equipment in Lorient France.
