The Lights are Green and Parking is GO as San Diego International Airport Unveils the New INDECT Parking Guidance System in Terminal 2

San Diego International Airport

INDECT USA has announced the installation of a new, custom-designed UPSOLUT parking guidance system at San Diego International Airport.

Conveniently located in close proximity to Terminal 2, the new multi-level, parking garage offers nearly 2,900 spaces including a number of open-air spaces on the rooftop for those travelers wishing to take in the impressive harbor and downtown views.

A great deal of care and thought has gone into the design of the $128 million parking structure. There are numerous public art installations, glass-front elevators as well as INDECT’s state-of-the-art guidance technology to help travelers locate a vacant space quickly and easily.

The airport was heavily involved in the design right from the beginning,” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA. “They wanted a meticulous installation with no exposed conduit to give a clean visual appearance.”

Each sensor casing has been custom colored in white to match the ceiling and a unique rail and dropper system was developed to ensure the sensors were mounted discretely. The airport also insisted that only the highest-grade aluminum was used in order to withstand the coastal environment.

The UPSOLUT is the only parking guidance sensor on the market that is rated IP67.  This means it can be totally immersed in water and is impervious to dirt and dust, making it ideally suited to the San Diego climate.” said Fowler.

INDECT’s guidance technology has been fully integrated with the onsite SKIDATA ticket machines and boom gates. According to Fowler, this integration provides the airport with the ability to zone premium parking areas, and to activate the ‘Find My Car’ feature via the SKIDATA pay station.

In addition to the UPSOLUT camera-based sensor, the airport has implemented a comprehensive signage plan with 189 high-visibility, 7-segment LED parking guidance signs to provide seamless directions from anywhere in the garage.

The installation was managed by parking experts, Sentry Control Systems Inc.
