The Linc Group Aligns with SAP Labs, Palo Alto on Sustainability Projects
The Linc Group, a subsidiary of ABM Industries Incorporated (NYSE:ABM), has aligned with SAP Labs in Palo Alto, CA, on several innovative sustainability initiatives. The Linc Group was among the companies that participated in the recent SAP Energy Efficiency Showcase in Palo Alto.
The showcase brought together a select group of leading organizations to share best practices for making the business case for sustainability. SAP demonstrated a set of investments and strategies that together support a company's environmental and business goals.
"The Linc Group is proud to work with such a strong technology leader as SAP and we look forward to being part of the company's continued progress for a sustainable future," said Ken Sapp, vice president of Linc EnergyHub. "While innovation is core to the Silicon Valley business culture, SAP has demonstrated that energy-efficiency projects are also ready for broader industry adoption and can provide positive return on investment (ROI). Selecting the right implementation provider is essential, as domain expertise is required across IT, electrical, lighting, controls and HVAC. Linc provides expert design and implementation services while partnering with clean technology manufacturers to help ensure a positive client experience."
The Linc Group provided implementation and integration services for several significant energy-efficiency initiatives at SAP's Palo Alto offices, including the following:
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations: Linc installed the first of 16 planned EV Charging Stations manufactured by Coulomb Technologies, Inc., at SAP Labs, Palo Alto. This project is one of the largest installations of workplace-networked Level-II charging stations in the U.S. to date.
LED Lighting and Lighting Control Systems: Linc partnered with clean technology manufacturers Lunera Lighting and Redwood Systems and installed 377 Lunera 2200 Series energy-efficient solid state LED fixtures and 17 of Redwood Systems' intelligent lighting control systems in the SAP offices. Depending on the use case, fixtures may be equipped with sensors capable of detecting motion, consumption and ambient light. The project will reduce energy consumption while maintaining or improving light quality.
Solar Power: Linc provided electrical expertise to incorporate a new DC power supply from 462 Sharp solar panels many of which were mounted in an array on the roof of a building that houses the SAP Co-Innovation Lab. The new DC distribution system allows servers in the SAP Co-Innovation Lab to be powered by renewable power and reduces the load from the utility power grid. SAP software is used to track the results.
"As we work to build a more sustainable campus in Palo Alto and support overall company efforts to be an exemplar of sustainability we are committed to working with providers such as Linc that have the vision and capabilities to support high-priority, energy-efficiency initiatives that drive fast ROI," said Rami Branitzky, managing director of SAP Labs North America.
