OPG acquires Karstadt with DESIGNA technology
Since 1 March OPG-Centerparking GmbH has been responsible for the ongoing technical operation and maintenance of all of the systems in Karstadt's parking garages nationwide.
Note: Karstadt's parking garages are operated by Karstadt AG itself.
DESIGNA technology played a significant part in this success. A total of 43 parking systems are involved, of which 28 are DESIGNA products and 15 made by other manufacturers, which in future will be controlled centrally from Osnabrück - the majority already being run via ASP (Application Service Providing).
A key criterion for the acquisition of this project was the unprecedented speed of conversion: within 8 days, 25 DESIGNA employees converted all of the systems and switched them to OPG's centre: 15 PM ABACUS systems were networked directly via the joint ASP server and older PM 100 systems were connected to the centre. Plans are in place to gradually upgrade the PM 100 systems to PM ABACUS systems in the near future and to network them via the ASP server, too.
In addition to the speed required, thanks to ASP we were also able to fulfil all of the specified medium-term criteria. These include compliance with the PCI Standard, the use of a common customer card product, comprehensive data evaluation and the centralised administration of season parkers.
We are delighted that DESIGNA's outstanding technological efficiency and adaptability to the future has been endorsed in such impressive fashion.
