Easier Parking for Handicapped Drivers

Standard parking solutions often only focus on healthy drivers and do not take into consideration other minority groups of users. A considerable part forms drivers with restricted mobility who have specific needs in various areas of everyday life, including parking.

The parking system by GREEN Centre is attempting to reflect the needs of disabled wheelchair bound drivers. The biggest barrier the disabled have to face is not surprisingly parking alone but paying for their parking, which they are, due to the layout of the operating elements and the height of standard pay stations, unable to carry out successfully.

The new pay station is designed in such a way as not to restrict anyone from its usage. Elements are distributed on the front panel in a simple and logical manner and are easy to access. The height of the pay station secures trouble free operation for most users.

The disabled friendly facility and the usability of the innovated pay station of the parking system have also undergone practical testing in co-operation with selected persons with reduced motoric abilities; this confirmed that the new parking system is extremely usable for disabled persons.

The disabled friendly automated pay station is suitable for buildings where the arranging of disabled friendly access is necessary, whether it is due to legislative regulations or the car park operator’s social awareness. The pay station is designed in such a way as to be simply applicable in places where a solution for disabled persons would otherwise not be suitable.
