The Del Monte/NutriAsia Headquarters in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila, Philippines

Running the largest integrated pineapple operation in the world, Del Monte is one of the leading international food retailers. In order to improve security and provide employees and visitors with convenient access, Del Monte Philippines recently equipped their office with new access control and surveillance systems. Nedap’s uPASS Reach readers were selected to facilitate hands-free access to the company’s parking facilities.

Leading producer

Del Monte is one of the world's largest manufacturers and marketers of processed foods, primarily canned vegetables, fruit and tomato products. These products are sold to a variety of food retailers and supermarkets worldwide. Since its debut in 1886, the company has earned its reputation with a series of innovations and a dedication to quality.

With its headquarters in Taguig City (Manila) the Philippines, Del Monte Philippines is a leading producer of pineapple and other food products. The company operates the largest integrated pineapple operation in the world.

During working hours in the Taguig City office, Del Monte comprises a large staff population across all different departments and site workplaces. To provide employees and visitors with smooth and secure access, the company explored new integrated access control solutions and closed circuit television systems that were able to manage and monitor access to the different corporate areas. The entire project covered facility access control solutions, and car parking management systems. Within this latter system, Nedap’s long-range UHF readers play an important role.

UHF parking access

Provided by Nedap business partner IOT Philippines Inc. and their system integrator, Faire Technologies Inc., Nedap’s uPASS Reach readers enable Del Monte to control the access to the company’s parking facilities to prevent unauthorized car entry. With the integration into the Samsung Access Control System, parking access is now granted according to staff levels and availability of designated parking areas. Authorized drivers are identified on long-range with the help of Nedap’s UHF Windshield Tags, passive transponders mounted on the windshield of the employee’s vehicles. With this solution, Del Monte ensures convenient and secure hands-free parking access to all of its authorized employees.

Nedap’s uPASS Reach offers long-range vehicle and people identification up to 5 meters [16 ft] using the latest UHF technology. Combined with Nedap’s Windshield Tags, the uPASS systems offers a cost effective and enduring solution for hands-free parking access.

Security and convenience

The combined security systems have proven their worth. The company achieves customer satisfaction in terms of expected security requirements. Additionally, Del Monte spends lesser time for security verification at their office’ perimeters. And while all critical areas inside the office are now secured, the uPASS Reach readers ensure that also the access to the parking facilities are controlled in a secure and convenient way.

Reliable and responsive security

Nedap has worked closely with Del Monte Philippines’ security consultants to understand their needs for a reliable and responsive security system. To meet the stringent requirements, they have chosen Nedap’s uPASS Reach and UHF Windshield Tags to provide a balance between security and convenience for parking access control. Nedap has truly lived up to its reputation of providing quality products that it is known for,” says Mr. Jonathan Co., General Manager, IOT Philippines.
