PARKEON installs new recharging stations for electric vehicles in Besançon

At the end of May, the Mayor of Besancon and the Regional President inaugurated the new recharging stations for electric vehicles, supplied by the world’s leader in on-street parking, in the city centre.

Besançon has chosen to enhance the introduction of electric vehicles by providing the public and its partner, the Auto'Cité service, with recharging stations based at central locations in the city.

Parkeon won the tender for the supply and the installation of recharging stations for 3 years.

Besançon is the first city to benefit from such a comprehensive system that offers three different uses on the same device: The recharging station consists of a Strada parking terminal that controls two recharging stations. The first one is used to recharge electric vehicles belonging to companies, administrations or the general public. The second one is allocated to recharging electric vehicles that belong to the Auto'Cité car-sharing service, parked on reserved parking spaces. Of course, the parking terminal also manages the parking of combustion engine vehicles.

The system is simple: the driver pays a fee for recharging and parking at the parking terminal which gives access to an electrical outlet. The driver then connects the vehicle to a recharging cable. In this way, the parking period serves to recharge the vehicle safely.

All the useful data from this new service (transaction charge, terminal surveillance etc.) is made available in Parkfolio, the monitoring system already operational at the City of Besancon.

PARKEON has provided an innovative solution to skillfully manage electric mobility in the city. Recharging stations for electric vehicles combine with existing services in parking, in order to integrate electric vehicles into a policy of sustainable urban mobility.
