Belgium scoop : Parkeon launches Maestro on the parking terminal
Two days ago a pilot started in the city of Antwerp (Brouwersvliet area).
Users can now pay their parking fee on the parking terminal with their Maestro card. The pay and display machine also accepts credit cards such as Mastercard and Visa.
Being innovative in the on-street parking, Parkeon wanted to offer its customers a wide range of payment methods in addition to the usual coins.
For the first time in Belgium and in collaboration with the city of Antwerp (GAPA) and the operator APCOA, Parkeon presents to the users of Antwerp, the opportunity to purchase their parking ticket with the Maestro card.
Parkeon has developed its own card reader that offers maximum security and complete transparency for the operator. Parkeon ensures complete management of the transaction and is unique in the on-street parking business.
The test period covers three months maximum with an interim evaluation.
From the first quarter of 2011, Parkeon will offer Maestro to other municipalities in Belgium.
