EMV banking payment also happens in Italy!
Milan will be the first city in Italy to offer the bank payment on its parking terminals. The user can pay the parking fee with a Visa credit card, MasterCard or Maestro. 500 Strada parking terminals have now been equipped with the EMV banking kit and MR40 reader. Enabling on-line banking is only a matter of days. A total of 1,500 parking terminals, in Milan, will offer the bank payment.
As soon as the contactless cards are widely spread, it will be possible to pay parking fees by this payment means as the terminals are already equipped with the contactless target.
In addition to these new payment methods, the terminal offers innovative services such as activation or reloading of the transport contactless card and soon payment of the "Ecopass" tax for the most polluting vehicles.
Using the enhanced keyboard installed on all parking terminals, users identify themselves by entering their number plate. The terminal will indicate the amount to pay. In a few months it will be possible to pay parking fines directly on the terminal.
Other cities such as Verona, Livorno and Arezzo, have already planned to offer its users the opportunity to pay their parking fees by credit card.
