Parkmobile Australia announces the deployment of a Pay-By-Phone trial in the City of Melbourne

Parkmobile Australia announces today a trial program that will allow residents, workers and visitors to use their mobile phone to pay for parking at on-street metered spaces in the Carlton area of Victorias capital city. Parkmobiles Pay-By-Phone technology roll-out is an important element of a project unveiled earlier this year to employ modern technologies to both assist customers to more easily park their vehicles as well as to enable city managers to make better capacity decisions.

About Parkmobile Group

Parkmobile is a leading global provider of seamlessly integrated end-to-end solutions for electronic parking. Parkmobiles product offerings include cashless mobile payments for on and off street parking, digital permits, electronic enforcement and congestion charging systems. The program will be fully implemented by the end of October this year and will provide drivers with another convenient and more accurate payment option. None of the existing meters, tariffs and rules will be changed during the pilot period.
Parkmobile was established in Australia in late 2009 to provide cities and municipalities with integrated, end-to-end electronic parking solutions including pay-by-phone parking and digital parking permits. The move followed much interest from Australian local governments and parking authorities in developments in Europe and North America which have been very popular with users as well as city managers. Last year Parkmobile conducted a very successful pilot in a leading Sydney council area and a number of adjoining councils have expressed interest in following suit.
"We are delighted to have won the opportunity to partner with the City of Melbourne as we work together to introduce new technologies to the parking industry" says Stephen McLeod, Managing Director, Parkmobile Australia. We have some exciting times ahead. Users all around Europe, North America and Australia love the ease and flexibility our solutions bring to parking and we are very pleased to be able to provide such innovative technology to the City of Melbourne.
Drivers can sign up at www.parkmobile.com.au, where they can also download their mobile app. A quick registration process has been specifically designed for Australian customers which can use the web, smart phone applications as well as voice activated systems. Once registered, drivers can use the mobile app or a mobile phone to pay for parking with only a few keystrokes. The parking transaction appears in real-time on handheld devices used by Parking Enforcement Officers and offers immediate protection against the risk of infringement.
Drivers will benefit from this new trial program in many ways; first it is hassle-free and saves time. Second, customers don't have to struggle to find coins or operational machines. Finally, users will no longer need to predict how long they need to stay parked. The Pay-By-Phone technology requires motorists to only pay for the time they are parked, saving money and reducing the risk of the much hated parking tickets!
