When car and parking robot are communicating

The digitization of the car enables increasing comfort and more time for the important things in life. In a recent cooperation, Volkswagen and Serva Transport Systems GmbH from Bavaria, have developed a technology that makes parking easier, faster and more comfortable. This innovation was presented live today (19.01.) at the trade fair BAU in Munich.

While fully autonomous driving will still take a while to develop into a mass product some technologies in this field do exist today. With its robotic parking system RAY™, Serva Transport Systems has fully automated and revolutionized parking. RAY™ parks cars independently and also drives it up again upon a call from you mobile. Since last year such an automated parking system has been in operation at Düsseldorf airport and has become a favorite amenity of every-day-life for many regular customers. 

The latest innovation in cooperation with Volkswagen increases the efficiency of RAY™ even urther. Rupert Koch, Managing Director Serva Transport Systems, is enthusiastic about the new solution: „The cooperation with Volkswagen perfects RAY™. Our jointly developed technology exchanges data automatically between RAY™ and Volkswagen cars via Bluetooth and thus facilitates the parking process. Security questions which previously had to be answered at the Check-in terminal are clarified between cars and ray autonomously. This makes our already quick and easy system even more comfortable and faster.”

In the automated parking systems of Serva Transport Systems GmbH the patented robot system RAY™ takes over the transportation and parking of cars and makes it quick, easy and safe - ideal for car stores or parking garages. Rupert Koch, Cary Bellaflor and Leopold Meirer have developed this very special parking system with the motto "We do the parking for you". Since 2013 the system has been ready for series production, since 2014 is has proven its worth at Düsseldorf airport in everyday use. Further projects are under preparation. And that's how RAY™ works: The driver hands over his/her car at a transfer station, the further parking process will be done by a highly flexible, driverless transport vehicle (FTF) which is similar to a fork lift. It adapts automatically to the dimensions of the relevant car and takes it safely to the final position. As RAY™ does not need any rails, it is able to travel individual routes and manoeuver on minimum space. Parking garages can take any desired shape.
