Euro 3 million Oz deal for Skidata

Skidata (stand 01.116) announced yesterday that it has won a 3 million contract to provide modern access control equipment for six Australian shopping centres.
Partnering with Australian company Wilson Technology Solutions (WTS), it beat off rivals from Japan, France and Germany to clinch a deal with shopping centre owner Westfield to equip its public retail car parks in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.
The deal, the largest ever awarded in the Australian parking systems market, followed Skidata/WTS" submission of a tender in December 2005. It centres on Skidata"s new Easy. Cash pay-on-foot station.

This features a self-replenishing banknote system for change-giving, designed to reduce operators" cash supply costs. (The station also accepts debit and credit cards, and Westfield"s own shopper card).

The tender stressed the operational back-up capability available through WTS" support centre in Melbourne. The contract includes a five-year management agreement.Following their success, the partners are now exploring follow-up opportunities in New Zealand, the US and Europe.
