Cees de Wijs new CEO of Swarco AG

The Austrian-based traffic technology group SWARCO will get a new CEO. In its meeting on 12 December 2013, the SWARCO AG Supervisory Board appointed Dr. Cees de Wijs Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SWARCO AG effective 1 January 2014.

Manfred Swarovski, SWARCO founder and President of the Executive Board: “I am happy to have found in Cees de Wijs a young, yet experienced manager in our industry who is well prepared to tackle the challenges in modern traffic management in an increasingly mobile and interconnected world. Mr. de Wijs, aged 45, is a Dutch national, studied Computer Science, holds a PhD degree in Engineering from Delft University of Technology, and looks back to almost 20 years of experience in the mobility industry, focused on traffic and transport telematics across all transport modes. After employment with ROYAL KPN GROUP Cees de Wijs moved on to LOGICA where he worked as Group Director Transport and Logistics, responsible for their Global Practice on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). He was involved in international business in the field of intelligent transport systems (road pricing, vehicle telematics, logistic tracking and tracing and traffic management) and the director for Logica’s projects on road pricing conducted in Austria from the Munich operation. He lived two years in Sweden working on the Øresund Link – both on traffic management and signalling as well as the toll system design.

Since March 2010 Mr. de Wijs has worked for XEROX as Group President for all Xerox Services Transportation and Government business in the Eastern Hemisphere. Cees has been a member of the senior leadership Council of Xerox Corporation and member of the board of Xerox Services Global Transportation and Government business. The main lines of business include road pricing, electronic ticketing and fare collection, speed and red light enforcement and parking services.

Cees de Wijs, who is also a member of the Supervisory Board of ERTICO, comments on his new workplace: “I have come across the people and technologies of SWARCO many times and have great respect of what Manfred Swarovski and his team have created over the past four and a half decades.
