Triflex Shares Top Tips for a Successful Construction or Renovation Project

During our latest Parking Talks, we heard from experts in turnkey parking solutions, market leaders in safety barriers and liquid waterproofing specialists on the topic of construction. We learned how companies work together to build and renovate parking facilities and what trends we will see in the next few years.

Here, Rudi Gleich, International Business Development Manager at Triflex, shares his thoughts on how to ensure a successful project and tells us what trends he thinks we will start seeing in the parking garage construction industry.

What Do You Bring to the Parking Industry?

"Triflex is a liquid plastics specialist, and we use our products to protect the building structure against environmental impacts, such as weather conditions. And, depending on where the building is located, the consequence could be quite dramatic for a building without any protection.

"So when it comes to the impact on the parking industry, you can see our contribution more in the aesthetics and the orientation. I mean, besides the fact that without a functional building nothing else would be possible, this would be our main impact. With road markings, we are able to guide the traffic, but also make the facility aesthetically pleasing to the end users. I think that this is the main impact that we can deliver."

How Do You Ensure a Successful Project?

"When it comes to new construction or refurbishment, our goal is to accompany the whole process. And, of course, we support all companies involved and people involved, helping them with all topics that can arise during the whole procedure, like the analysis of the current situation, including recommendation or advice, and, when we are a little bit further in the process, solutions, and facts and figures regarding pricing or different materials, and so on.

"On top of that, of course, we have conversations and discussions with the actual people involved, so from the owner right down to the applicator who is applying our material. It is quite common that engineers and consultants are good at what they do, but in certain situations, you just need special knowledge, and we as a manufacturer have that special knowledge and expertise of waterproofing and surface treatment. It is this which makes us a good partner in developing the right solution for new constructions or refurbishments.

"And then of course, even during the process, when everyone has decided on the solution, it, of course, comes to how the material needs to be applied. There are certain rules and requirements that need to be fulfilled and we are able to take care of the supervision and quality control to ensure that requirements are met. Afterward, we can provide a maintenance guide to support the operator or the owner in aftercare that the facility management should take care of."

What Trends Can We Expect in Construction in 2019, and What Will Triflex Be Working On?

"Besides new and upgraded products, there are of course new applications we are thinking about. Honestly, the most interesting development in the industry that I see at the moment is making the car park more than a car park, that is, finding alternative uses for parking facilities, such as roof parks and so on. When you plan to install items on the roof of a building, it is essential that it is waterproofed properly, so that items do not need to be removed again.

"Also, we are seeing that our cities are growing, and more people are moving into the cities, which means that space becomes rare. And this is what we are focused on as well, we like to create more than just protection, we like to enable innovations. Enabling innovations for a sustainable future; that is what you can expect from us."
