DESIGNA-Axess-Group

Go separate ways and grow together!
DESIGNA and AXESS found DESIGNA-Axess-Group

For years now, DESIGNA has focused on expansion. In addition to regional expansion in its core Parking Management Systems sector, DESIGNA is working on acquiring new business areas in access control. The founding of the DESIGNA-AXESS-GROUP is a giant step in this direction.

designa_company.jpgAlthough DESIGNA already has representatives in 57 countries, head of sales Tony Whelan is far from resting on his well-earned laurels. “We see great potential – especially in Asia and America. But new opportunities are opening up in Europe as well, due to the EU eastward expansion.“ DESIGNA has already established a good starting position for these opportunities in the preceding years. While DESIGNA has already had a leading presence in Poland, the Czech Republic and Croatia for years, the introduction to the market in Slovenia and Hungary in 2003 was quite successful, according to Irish man Whelan.

The outfitting of the ECE shopping center Arcad in Budapest early last year marked the start of the successful introduction to the market in Hungary
In addition to the goal of growth in parking, the company is also pursuing new business areas to an equal extent. After investing in “companion“, a cashier and access system developer for leisure facilities in Paderborn, Germany, DESIGNA Managing Director Michael Gradnitzer is especially pleased with the most recent success in this area. The intensive cooperation with “Axess AG“ was announced for the first time at a press conference in Salzburg in early January. “Together we have gained access to new business areas much faster and more easily than would have been possible if each of us had made the attempt alone“, explains Michael Gradnitzer.
The Salzburg technology company “Axess AG“ has worked its way up to the top of the access
control market for sports and leisure facilities only five years after it was founded. Axess CEO
Wolfram Kocznar is proud of the most recent success, and especially, of course, with the
contract for new equipment for access and cashier systems in Europe’s largest ski area –
“Dolomiti Superski”. In a single ski season, 130 million trips are monitored and managed there. In the future, Axess intends to increase the market share for ski access control to 70%.
However, in addition to the core business of ski access control, Wolfram Kocznar, together
with his 90 colleagues, can also be pleased about good business in other sectors. For example, Axess also installed an access system in Salzburg’s new soccer stadium. Other new business areas will be developed together in partnership with DESIGNA. Public access – this is the definition of the newly founded core competency of the DESIGNA Axess- Group. Public access refers to the control of anonymous persons and objects.
Both companies will continue to trade separately, but will work together in the future under a
common umbrella brand name. DESIGNA CFO and Axess Chairman Thomas Hammer explains
the goals of the new cooperation as follows: “We will make use of synergies – in product
development, in production, in service and in sales. The DESIGNA-Axess-Group will become the
market leader in its business areas. Leading technology and innovation – these are clearly
defined focuses of the group mission. DESIGNA and Axess systems will be compatible with each other in terms of ticket technology, databases and operation.“

DESIGNA will focus on vehicle access control, Axess on personal access control. For the parking
system customer, the new partnership will soon be evident in the form of new products, some of which will be presented at the coming Intertraffic.
